And this was before corporate propeganda campaigns like Facebook encouraged people to give out their real details. Facebook WAS popular with millennials at one stage, and we DID fall for it en-masse.
And while One Kind of online predator was sensationalized in media, nobody talked about social engineering. Giving out personal info in an incorrectly perceived private space, like on AIM, was common.
