taxonomically, seals are closest related to bears and musteloids, not canines, but you look at this video and tell me that isn't just a big water puppy

video description: a wild seal playing with a stray tennis ball in the surf

love too be an adult and wake up on my day off with inexplicably bad anxiety and a lengthy chore list

If you charge it with enough heat or light it glows in the day. Imagine being a goddamn mutant dog skeleton that looks like it's emitting cherenkov radiation during the anthrocon fursuit parade. now that I've implanted that mental image into my own head, it will be permanently there until i make it a reality

I stumbled upon Stuart Semple's art materials for the first time last night and oh my fucking god why have i never seen a fursuit made with any of these. now i feel like i have to make it happen. just order some dog skull resin blanks and go absolutely fucking bananas. imma save up and make it happen

it's my party and i'll infodump if i want to

aaaa i just remembered the story/context i came up with for my fursona and then forgot about for like 4 months. they are literally just me but a seal person and also they run an applied algal biotech lab. they have a bunch of photobioreactors and a tiny little research vessel

offhand mention of food

when you consider all the other things that can be terminal electron acceptors (oxygen and nitrate are just some of the best options to use bc they have high reduction potentials)... just imagine how many times this wheel could theoretically have been reinvented. trying to study/identify microbial symbioses in nature poses some unique challenges, you could spend a whole career searching, god sometimes i wish someone would pay me to spend a whole career searching

by that I dont literally mean "a sequel to mitochondria", i mean they found an analogous little critter that seems to fulfill the same role in a microbial partnership (you supply-a the terminal electron acceptor, i make-a the ATP), it's just using nitrate as the terminal electron acceptor instead of oxygen

arstechnica.com/science/2021/0 this is so fucking cool. this is the coolest thing i have read all week. nature really did just up and create Mitochondria II: Nitrate Respiration Edition, and none of us ever noticed til now. and when they finally noticed, some biologists really did just up and name it, "nitrogen-friend that lives inside a ciliate"

“Big news! I have a surgery date! I need to make sure I have the cost of surgery paid by my pre op appointment (April 26th)! [...] I am tired of being afraid to leave my house without binding. I am just tired of the pain of binding in general. [...] this will save my life. I want my body to feel like a home. Help me out with that❤️“
