[This all began at 1 AM last night]
It's finally happening
Hopefully my computer isn't fucked when I wake up lol
[Wise words, past me]
Also this is very suspicious
Okay so update
Xscreensaver triggered a warning about one of the packages that was getting installed
Which naturally stalled the update at 15% all night
[Something like this happens every time, so I'd tried to stay awake for a little while to catch it, but I fell asleep]
Preparing to unpack .../00-chromium-browser_1%3a85.0.4183.83-0ubuntu0.20.04.2_amd64.deb ...
=> Installing the chromium snap
==> Checking connectivity with the snap store
===> Unable to contact the store, trying every minute for the next 30 minutes
===> Still unable to contact the store, trying for another 20 minutes
I hate this
why is it even trying to install from a snap
[Okay, we're about caught up for actual live toots now]
It's been at least an hour since that message appeared. I got a 10 minute warning at some point, but it's still stuck in the same place.
C O N C E R N
Me waiting on this update
(Original source unknown, sorry)
"About 19 hours remaining"
My phone also needs an update, but I think I'll lose my mind if my phone AND my laptop are both down at the same time lol
Especially because if something breaks on one of them, I'll need the other to fix it
YES THE CHROMIUM INSTALL FINALLY FAILED
WE CAN CONTINUE NOW
We're at the stage where I keep having to approve or reject config file changes lol
So I found the log at `/var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log`, and it looks like it only complained because of that chromium package I had trouble with earlier?? What a scary message for something so mundane. I really hope that's all it is.
Fixing to reboot, so I guess we'll see…
Rebooted and ran apt again, which fixed the chromium issue. I still have a few more things to look at possibly needing to fix, like python3 and gnuradio and some PPAs I might have to re-enable, but everything seems to be working so far. Yes!
Only weird thing is that the Telegram taskbar icon is now black for some reason lol (it used to have the normal blue circle behind it)
